Happy New Year!!

(Michael Kors top and shoes, Vero Moda skirt, Club Monaco clutch)

So looking back at 2010, fashion trends included animal prints, sparkle and fur. On the last day of the year I wanted to summarize it all in my NYE outfit tonight!! I wish that 2011 brings everyone happiness, health and tons of glamour!!

Getting started...

Photobucket
(Zara jacket and hat, BCBG dress, Aldo boots, Banana Republic scarf & Louis Vuitton bag)
Decided to end off the year with an outfit post since I finally got an SLR camera from my guy.  Also got a fur hat which I am pretty happy about and that you will hopefully see in the new year since I plan on taking more pics!  I also boycotted boxing day this year since I think that it is just too crazy for me and opted for a more relaxing day (first time in history I have not gone shopping, and not quite sure what has come over me!) How was your Christmas and what good presents did Santa and boxing day bring you??

P.S. Please tell me what you think about the photo since I am looking for comments/ suggestions on how to use my new camera.

Which is your fave??

BTW might be getting an SLR camera for Xmas, so I can take pics for the blog!  So excited!!

Stocking stuffers for Her!

Stocking stuffers

Here are some ideas for your girlfriends, wives or even sisters.  They can be stocking stuffers or gifts on a budget!  They are both sweet and thoughtful and no girl will be upset on how much you spend, it is more the fact that you thought of getting them something!  I love the little details in any gift, the pearls on the headband, the jeweled bows, the trim on the gloves.  What are you getting the women in your lives?

Winter Essentials

Winter Essentials

So not only did it snow, but the weather is also getting colder.  In order to brave our frigid winters, I always have at least two hats in my car, along with my cashmere snood around my neck(which I got last year at Banana Republic and is one of my best purchases since it is so soft and warm). But this year the latest fashionable hats have been these huge fur ones(thinking of getting one at H & M) and turbans (inspired by Carrie in SATC 2).  How do you guys stay warm?

Office Gift X-change

Here are some great ideas for the gift exchange at work that are both thoughtful and within budget.  They can work for both your male or female co-workers (maybe a little more feminine, but I can't help it women are more fun to shop for).  What kind of gifts do you give to co-workers since I am always looking for new ideas?

Winter Look

Winter look

BALMAIN Coat, 5.375 EUR

As the snow settled on the streets of Montreal,I went looking for perfect winter looks. Of course I can always rely on Serena for providing the right mix of style and warmth to battle the cold winter days ahead. A structured sherling coat is a great alternative to the boring duffel coat and perfect when paired with riding boots. A fedora and cashmere scarf add luxury and will shield you from the cold. How do you battle the cold in style?

Wednesday, December 1, 2010

So here is a classic working look I like to sport : Boyfriend blazer with a high waisted skirt since it is both feminine and structured. I don't usually take outfit pics and so this is from a while ago (when my hair was shorter), but just felt like sharing. It was featured on Hypeed, a site dedicated to fashion for real people. What is your working style? Please share and tell me what your fave looks for the office are?

How to wear a skirt, 3 ways!

Corsetry bustier, $199

Love this skirt for winter because of its versatility, neutral color, great length and flirty shape.  These are investment pieces in any wardrobe and should be purchased each season because they can be worn with everything.  Look for these items when shopping!

My Wishlist

Wish list

So this is my version of a letter to Santa!  I am really wanting some type of lace up bootie or oxford in gray which can match with black and brown  (Please ignore what my husband says about the 12 pair of boots I already own and how I don't need any more).  I also would want anything from the T by Alexander Wang collection (but this slouchy one above is fabulous). This Balenciaga perfume in on the list since it is so soft and fresh and I've been a really good girl this year and deserve it.  A cashmere scarf in grey and classic black bag is just what ever girl needs!
P.S.this list is too short and will add more as the holidays approach! Also would love more followers, please sign up if you haven't already.  Thanks!

Celine Bags

Images from Jak&Jil

I am in love with this Celine classic box bag in this rich tan color.  It is such a timeless piece that can be easily worn with everything.  Fashionistas all over have been sporting this bag and have left me drooling over it.  Some may think it is boring and nothing special but I think it is so perfect and can be worn for years to come!

Must Have Accessories

Must Have Accessories

La Mer Animal Skin Wrap Watch, $85
Michael Kors 'Bel Aire Chronograph' Watch, $250
MARC BY MARC JACOBS Patent Strap Oversized Watch, $200

Anybody who knows me well, will tell you how much I love accessories.  I listed a couple of my faves that I found on Polyvore above.  But I definitely have my own faves!  I switch between a silver tank watch and a Michael Kors gold man watch depending on what I am wearing.  I also love big cocktail rings and recently have been loving the double cross ring I got at F21 in silver and gold( for $3.80, what a steal!)  Also got some leather bracelets at Coach when I was in LA back in 2008 and have not taken them off since! So basically these are my go to accessories for every day!

Olivia: Dressy or Casual?

What do you like better?  As I probably mentioned before on this blog, I think Olivia has a great sense of style.  Usually I find that certain people have a great casual style or a fantastic dressy style.  But Olivia seems to have both, and always looks fantastic.  She always gets it right!  Which look do you prefer?

Sequin Dresses

All that Shines

So it's that time of year where we start to think of dresses to wear for Christmas parties and New Years Eve.  I have always wanted a sequin t-shirt style since it is both dressy (because of the shine) and casual (due to the fit). I really love the gold above from Phillip Lim and would totally see Rachel Bilson wearing it!  Which one do you love?

Style Profile

I have always been a fan of Kim Kardashian's style, but lately I'm loving her sister Kourtney too!  They've recently been spotted all over New York taping their new show and I am loving the outfits they're sporting.  They have a very 70's glam vibe to them, wearing chubby knits with wide leg jeans, beautiful fur coats and great high waisted pants.  The second outfit is perfect for work and very easy to wear (the pants are even from H&M).  She is such a style inspiration!  Love it!

Must Have: The Satchel

The Satchel v2

A satchel is perfect for work and as you can see above works well with jeans too. I love that it is structured and how it looks like a vintage schoolbag. My personal fave is the one from Mulberry named after Alexa Chung.  I definitely put this bag (in any color) on my wishlist!

Winter Nights

The hour change happened this weekend and so the darkness came early today. For some reason the cold and dark just make me want to stay home and read a good book with something warm to drink.  The above outfit is what I wished I had to lounge in. Looks so warm and comfy. Also I have been wanting to change and add to the current layout and concept by posting more streetstyle / hollywood pics, wishlists and of course outfit posts. Tell me what you think and what you want to see more of?

5 Things that get me through the work week

1. Blogging and reading blogs:  After a long day at work I really look forward to coming home and visiting some lovely blogs with great images and topics varying from fashion, interior design and lifestyle.  Some of my American faves are Cupcakes and cashmere, Song of Style, Fashion Toast, Belle Maison and Made by Girl.  Also love the Canadian True North Style, Quality Rivets, Blushing and Sweet, and Une Parisienne a Montreal.  Have a look, you might get hooked too!

2. Yoga and other exercise:  I have been trying to make a conscious effort to go to yoga at least once a week and to hit the gym two other times in the week.  It is really hard but feels so rewarding when you have done it. Hot yoga is especially great because it so feels so warm when it is so cold outside, relaxing and yet such a such a hard workout. Moksha is my favorite spot in Montreal to practice.  If you live in the area check it out!

3. A good cup of tea:Don't get me wrong I love Starbucks too,but at work I like to drink tea since the coffee there is so bad!!  So when I need a break I head off for some green tea or milky oolong for a little breather. My cup of tea is my fave!

4. DIY manicure:Sunday night I will usually pamper myself and paint my nails for the week. I find it is relaxing and very easy to do. I try to pick a color which is both professional and stylish. Big Apple Red from OPI and Metro Chic from Sephora seems to be the winners these days. But also very current these days are the Khaki inspired colors from Chanel below:

5. Getting in a good episode of Gossip Girl:Ok so this is my guilty pleasure. I know I may not be the targeted audience, but I really enjoy this show. The outfits are to die for and the scheming is so funny! I love it when Blair is up to no good! Look how cute little J looks, I guess this was before she became all gothic barbie on us.

Real Working Girls

The Kardashian sisters have done it again.  They opened a new Dash store in NYC today. Kim was sporting an Alice and Olivia dress, while Kourtney had a skirt by Winter Kate. They are definately telling us the the LBD is the "IT" item to have for the holiday season. Do guys have your favorite LBD picked out for all the holiday parties?

Also posted other pics of Kim and her sister in great outfits which can be worn to work.  Pencil skirts and chic blazers are must haves in any working girl's closet.  The Kardashians have great style which mixes both classic and modern pieces along with alot of sexiness.

Cheetah Craze

Cheetah Craze

I want to kick myself for not purchasing a leopard print coat at Zara which I had in my hand last winter season for $30. I have been seeing it everywhere and really wished I had got it.  Does that ever happen to you?  I am constantly thinking of past purchases not made.  What torture! But seriously I love the above outfit since it is pretty monochromatic with a punch or color in the bag.  Also loving these Chloe boots that Zara had copied so well in past seasons.  Wish I had got those too!!!  Have a great day and make sure to love your outfit:)))

Weekend Must Haves

Sorry for the lack of posts during the week, but I decided to give my top items to wear on the weekend.  I definitely think that everyone should have a great pair of leather leggings whether real or fake which can be work casually or on an evening out.  Also a great pair of flat boots are a must along with these new boyfriend chunky knits.  As for outerwear a relaxed army parka is fun and new.  In the bag department a great satchel is good because it is so versatile. Love this bag from Mulberry!  Have a great weekend!

Gossip Working Girl Con't

Outro, $375

I am about to go watch the new episode of Gossip Girl and was really inspired by outfits I saw of Serena.  As you can see she is my favorite and I love her edgy but still feminine style. I have also been looking for booties which I can wear both to work and on the weekend in grey since it can be paired with so many other colors, but have already gone over my shopping budget for the month and therefore will have to wait till next month:(  Hope you like the outfit and tell me about some fall items you've purchased or that are on your wishlist.

Going Green

Rebecca Taylor Belted wool-blend cape, $625
Gina Shoes Clair Brown/Chocolate, $720
Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita leather bag, $495
CHANEL ROPE TEXTURE NECKLACE, $1,100
UNGER Fashion - Stella McCartney Bracelet 'Velvet' Khaki, 499 EUR
Tom Ford Beauty Arabian Wood Eau de Parfum, 8.4 oz., $465

When looking for work clothing try to find quality pieces in great fabrics such as wool and cashmere that will last a couple of seasons. The cape is a big trend this season but have not yet found one for me:( I like to mix more classic pieces with trendier accessories and shoes for work.  This dress from J.Crew is great because of the flowy detail on the sleeves and the structured bottom.  Hope you enjoy and happy hump day!!

Bon Voyage!

So although it is fall in my hometown of  Montreal, I am travelling to Brazil where their summer season is just beginning!  The weather is beautiful and the beaches are fabulous.  I would recommend packing bandeau bikinis to avoid nasty tan lines and great kaftans for cover-ups.  Also, a great flat sandal can be used for day or night which is great if you are trying to pack light (which is really hard for me!).  Sunglasses and a great beach bag are also necessary items to bring along.
